• FIFA's World Cup will have its 24th edition, 100 years after the first one. Uruguay is often mentioned as a possible host for this edition, because it hosted the inaugural edition in 1930 and there is even a project called Uruguay 2030 but, so far, no countries have yet officially offered to host the tournament.
• The Games of the XXVI Winter Olympics will be held.
• The European Space Agency hopes to land humans on Mars between 2030 and 2035.
• November 5: United States congressional elections.
• The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency will construct a manned lunar base.^[1]
• World population will reach 8.2 billion people.^[2]
• All New Zealand cars will be hybrid, bio-fuel, or electric.
• The joint venture partnership between Volkswagen Group China and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation is due to end.
• Assuming no further changes in the United States copyright law, Little House on the Prairie, by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and the song Happy Birthday to You, by Patty Hill and Mildred J. Hill, will enter the public domain.

• The Kid (2000): At the end of the movie where the main character finds his 70 year old self, but differing to other movies there were no changes in anything that was seen (planes, dinners and clothing).

• Click (2006): A man named Michael used his remote control where he kept fast forwarding into the future. Eventually, he arrived at his son's wedding in 2030.
